FAQ

All contractual documents, including your Terms of Work (ToW), CIIA (Confidential Information and Inventions Assignment Agreement), tax documentation, and offer letter, are accessible within the “Documents” section of your offer or contract page on work.mercor.com.
You may download these files directly from the Documents section on your dashboard. Should you experience any issues accessing them, kindly email support@mercor.com, including the project name and pertinent dates.
When you sign your offer documents, you’ll first confirm — via a checkbox reading “I confirm my profile is up to date” — that your profile is accurate. Signing is a representation that the information in your profile (including your work experience and legal name) is correct at the time of signing, so you can’t sign until the box is checked. Use Review profile in the signing window, or Settings → Resume, to check or update your resume before you confirm. You only need to do this once per offer.
While we’re sad to see you go, we absolutely respect your decision. You may request data deletion through your Account Settings. Once there, scroll down to find the option to delete your account.Deletion is refused while any of the following is still open, and the message you get names the one that applies:
  • An active contract — end the contract first, then request deletion again.
  • A payout still being processed — wait for it to be paid out, then request deletion again.
  • An offer you have not answered — accept or reject it first.
Your account is closed as soon as you confirm the request, and you will not receive a confirmation email. For full details, visit our Privacy Policy.
Yes. Mercor complies with GDPR standards concerning data protection and processing for individuals within the European Union. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data in accordance with these regulations.
You may contact support@mercor.com, and we will escalate the matter to our legal department if deemed necessary.
The agreement is standardised for all contractors to ensure fairness and consistency, so we’re unable to remove or amend individual sections.
Mercor does not provide employee verification letters. You can download your Engagement Letter directly from the relevant project dashboard, as shown in the Documents section (see screenshot example). Look for the file titled “Engagement Letter — Signed by Mercor”, which confirms your participation in the project.

Yes. The Engagement Letter is not stored and reissued — it is generated fresh every time you download it, from the details on your account and contract at that moment. So if the name is wrong, correct it in your profile settings first, then download the letter again: the new file carries the corrected name. The same is true of your contract dates, pay rate and expected hours. If you cannot change the detail yourself, email support@mercor.com and download the letter once it has been updated.

Your data remains secure, and Mercor does not sell your information. We do share your profile with companies you are being considered for — that is how matching works. What they see is your Mercor profile with contractor-only fields removed. We do not share it more widely than that; the Privacy Notice sets out the full detail. You may request the deletion of your account via your account settings, once nothing listed in the account deletion answer above is still open.
Mercor collects a W-9 form from U.S. citizens and residents and a W-8BEN form from non-U.S. individuals. If you are not sure which applies to you, consult a qualified tax professional.
Please contact support@mercor.com, and our team will reset your tax form to enable you to submit the correct version.
Mercor does not withhold any taxes. You are responsible for reporting and paying your own taxes in accordance with your local laws.

Work Authorization

Mercor engages contractors on both pre- and post-completion OPT. Whether your OPT status permits this work is for your Designated School Official (DSO) or an immigration professional to confirm, so check with them before you accept an offer.
Mercor is unable to sign Form I-983, which is a prerequisite for STEM OPT employment.
Mercor can engage you on CPT once your university’s Designated School Official (DSO) has approved it. Whether the work counts as an integral part of your curriculum is for your DSO to decide.
Mercor does not provide visa sponsorship, including H-1B or other employment-based visas.
Once you receive an offer, you can review and sign your offer letter directly through your Mercor dashboard. Your signed offer letter is available straight away, in the Documents section of your offer. The Engagement Letter is a separate document, and it appears only once your contract is active. It stays available after the contract ends. Downloading it before then returns “Engagement letter is not available. Job must be active or ended.” If your CPT paperwork is due before your start date, the signed offer letter is the document available to you then.Once it is available, you can download the Engagement Letter for your Curricular Practical Training (CPT) application. Your DSO decides which documents your university accepts. Please note that the terms and conditions of the offer (including the start date) are standardised and are not subject to any adjustments.
